Calc
Calc is OOo's spreadsheet creation and management tool. It allows newcomers an easy enviroment for starting and data wizards the advanced functionality they want. Calc can be a free replacement for Microsoft's Excel. Now have fun trying to fill up the 17,179,869,184 cells of data you can have in one file!
Calc Interface:
Features
Calc has a great enviroment and advanced functionality here is some of it:
- Intuitive Design - the design of Calc is great, this program works the way your mind does. For example if you only want to type in the first 10 rows, highlight those rows and Calc will know that you only want to type in those rows. Or you have a column of five numbers and you click to the 6th column. Then you click on the subtotal/sum button of the formula toolbar, Calc will know that you wanted to add those 5 columns and give you your result in that 6th cell.
- Function Wizard (Ctrl+F2) - Calc has about 375 functions, all at your control, providing amazing power! In the function wizard they are seperated in groups such as Financial, Information, Logical and others. What is so great about this is that all of these functions are in the control of any average user, because the in-software help provides information and examples for each one of them. However some of them are so advanced you may still never use them.
- External Data Linking - with this you can pull information off of the internet or your files in order to pull conclusions from data. Futhurmore the spreadsheets can be updated to reflect changes in the the source.
